The aim of APCYS is to foster science research amongst secondary school students.

Abstract

Join us on an adventure where the small and mighty creatures of our world meet the enigmatic principles of quantum mechanics. We'll explore how the humble cockroach might hold secrets to navigating Earth's magnetic fields, revealed by cutting-edge quantum sensors sensitive to their faint biological signals. In another leap into the quantum realm, we’ll recount how a tardigrade, the ultimate survivor, was entwined with the fabric of quantum computing and emerged lively. This talk will touch on the lighthearted yet profound research that not only won the Ig Nobel Prize but also sparks curiosity and wonder about the natural world and the hidden forces that bind it. This session promises to be a blend of fun facts and intriguing insights.
